2020 Hanover Fair Cancelled

It is with regret that the Hanover, Bentinck & Brant Agricultural Society announces the cancellation of the 2020 Hanover Fair (August 7, 8, 9) due to COVID-19. Our concern for the well-being of fair participants and volunteers lead us to this decision.

This was a very difficult choice to make, but at this time of uncertainty, we appreciate your understanding and support. The annual fair is a culmination of countless hours of planning by our team of dedicated volunteers, and we have been closely watching the status of the State of Emergency in Ontario.  At this time is in the best interest of our organization to cancel our 2020 Fair as you know it.

However, we are excited to announce that we will begin planning immediately for a “Virtual Fair”. This is a new venture for our organization and we are excited about the possibilities. We will continue to work hard to provide family fun and agricultural awareness through this new platform.

The Hanover, Bentinck & Brant Agricultural Society has been proudly supporting our community since 1864, and we look forward to renewing our traditions with a full slate of competitions, displays, entertainment, and free family fun at our 2021 Fair!

In the meantime, watch for upcoming details about how to engage in our “2020 Virtual Fair”. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter, and visit our website (hanoverfair.ca) for future announcements.

Sincerely,

The Board of Directors
Hanover, Bentinck & Brant Agricultural Society

This was sad for me to read. Even with Covid, I’d love to see all the agricultural awards. But I do like the mid/way too and I heard that last year there were no rides either. It’s very sad. Without the rides, I am sure you will find a tremendous amount of patrons no longer participating at all within a few years. Which is sad, very sad to envision another part of the towns heritage gone. 😢

Hi Lia, No need to be sad … the Hanover, Bentinck & Brant Agricultural Society is stronger than ever after 156 years, and we look forward to hosting our annual Fair in 2021. We saw an increase in attendance at last years fair, and had lots of positive feedback. We look forward to continuing our lost standing traditions, and supporting our community for many years to come. This year, we are offering competitions and contests through our “Virtual Fair” and working on lots of great ways to provide some entertainment and fun for the community during these very difficult times. Stay tuned for more info on upcoming events, and hope to see you next year at the fair!
